From Nanu Oya (the closest station to Nuwara Eliya) to Ella

We were to take the train through mountains. Plantations and farm land but due to the rain yesterday – a boulder fell on the train track and no trains for 2 days so we apparently missed An epic train ride!

Well instead our driver took us to the town of Ella on very windy roads – glad I sat in front of! The van! We saw many orphan cows and dogs on the side of the road. I’ve never so many stray dogs just sitting or sleeping on the side of tte road not the least bit worried about traffic.

We stopped for a fresh juice prior to taking the Tuck Tuck to the 9 Arch bridge – the bridge we would have crossed had we taken the train!

We took a little nap right after checking in Then we got dressed and walked to the town of Ella which is small, hilly, busy and touristy. It is a great stopover for hiking and biking for its breathtaking hills and waterfalls.

We had a decent dinner at the trendy energetic Chill Restaurant with reverberating music.

We found a few interesting small shops and Dawn tried the very sweet Chai tea with an accordionist in the background.

We walked back to the hotel in pouring rain.

Ella Considered a town of fresh air due to its high altitude and green space

We stopped at the upper part of Ella for a fresh juice- it’s a bit of a Rastafarian town.

We checked into this wonderful small bed and breakfast with a breathtaking of the mountains.
