SOUSSE Tunisia

We spend 2 days in this old town visiting mostly Unesco sites.

The first one being the museum of Sousse which is located in the Old Medina. It houses the most magnificent collection of mosaic I’ve ever seen. These mosaic were originally in wealthy people’s home and covered entire dining room or living room floors or outside walls of their homes.

These mosaic were actually in people’s homes, on floors, walks, and were cut out and reinstalled in this museum. It took months for tte process of dismantling them and rebuilding these mosaic fur the sake of preservation.

The Medina is filled with shops, markets, bakeries, butchers shop

There is as also a well preserved fortification or Ribat with a tall tower, And of course a the great mosque of Sousse. For history and archeology buffs, the there us a plethora of old structures to enjoy!
