FES, MOROCCO

The Medina of Fès is a fascinating and vibrant old city of 9400 alleys and it is car free. It is the largest existing Medina, very much like a labyrinth. It is a UNESCO site and was first founded in the 9th century You can get lost easily!

It is a thrill to enter the intricate blue gate but when you exit it is a green gate. So far it the most interesting Medina I’ve experienced.. It has the oldest tannery and the oldest Koranic school. It is located in the northeastern part of Morocco.

Fes is home to so many small talented artists such as woodcarvers, brass etching, weavers of silk fabric on wooden looms, ceramic artists, pottery makers, leather workshops the size of closets!

We stayed in the most beautiful Riad for 2 nights and experienced an incredibly creative and tasty molecular cuisine meal right next door to our Riad created by talented chef Najat Kaanache, who worked under the best chefs in the world!
